Esta entrevista foi publicada originalmente na Esquire americana, em Dezembro de 2008. Mas eu só a descobri no número de Abril da edição inglesa, aquela que consegui comprar este fim-de-semana... Com Gran Torino ainda fresco na minha memória deliciei-me com cada ideia, com cada pedaço partilhado da sua vida, com a ironia e a sabedoria deste actor e realizador extraordinário. Li e reli, pensando que muitas destas frases poderiam ter sido ditas pelo velho ex-soldado solitário e amargo (ou agridoce?) do seu último filme. Como esta, sobre a «nossa» pussy generation...
«My father had a couple of kids at the beginning of the Depression. There was not much employment. Not much welfare. People barely got by. People were tougher then.
